Professional Readiness

This course will introduce the internationally educated nurse (IEN) to professionalism and engage in various in activities which promote professional readiness. The major focus of this course will be to recognize, examine, and apply the cognitive, communication, behavioural, and interpersonal requirements essential to nursing practice in Ontario (College of Nurses of Ontario [CNO], 2012). Learners will listen to and share information in a safe, accurate, and professional manner using a variety of media and interventions; engage and participate in professional speaking; seek and consider feedback on language fluency; and self-reflect on ways in which to enhance professionalism. Culminating this course is the creation of a mandatory professional practice project.
