Indigenous Peoples and Development Issues
This course explores community development issues and the related impacts of development in Indigenous communities throughout Canada. Comparative analysis of efforts by Indigenous communities in the United States, New Zealand, Australia and Latin America will be encouraged in order to examine the parallels of Indigenous Peoples' experiences with colonialism. The development of political and legal strategies to address the long-term impacts of colonialism among Aboriginal Peoples in Canada will be discussed and evaluated.
