Fish & Wildlife Management

The student will gain an understanding of fish and wildlife management policies, regulations and guidelines in Ontario and Canada. Lectures will focus on understanding wildlife-habitat relationships, habitat selection, population dynamics, and the use of forested areas as habitat for a variety of species. Labs will focus on aspect of wildlife identification including bird songs and wildlife tracks, and survey methods to estimate wildlife populations and predict impacts from management activities. As part of this course, the student will complete a term paper and deliver a presentation on the habitat needs and management of a fish or terrestrial wildlife species in Northern Ontario.
