Forest Ecology

Forest Ecology is concerned with the forest as a biological community, and the interrelationships between both the plants themselves, and the physical environment in which they exist. The student will gain an understanding of Silvics (e.g. Autecology of plants) forest succession, disturbance dynamics, biodiversity, and the environmental factors affecting forest growth and development. (Synecology). Students must research and write two comprehensive technical reports on assigned topic areas (eg. Global Warming, Tree Species autecology, wildlife management).
