Intro to Educational Support

The role and responsibilities of the educational assistant in today's school has continued to evolve, becoming more complex and requiring an increasingly broad range of specialized skills. This course introduces students to the position of the school-based educational assistant, focussing on areas such as professionalism, boundaries, communication, privacy and confidentiality and attitude while also providing context through discussion of current education-related legislation, standards, regulations and policies. Assignments include case studies and interviews of employed educational assistants. Current educational issues and concerns will be discussed as students become fully versed in the duties of the educational assistant.
