Introduction to Biological Systems

Upon completion of this course, the student will understand life's characteristics and challenges that are common to all species. At all levels of life's organization - from molecules to the biosphere, students will examine how living things use energy to overcome disorganization and how they reproduce to overcome death. Many discussions will illustrate how biological science (ie. genetic engineering, bioremediation, biotechnology, bioassays) is helping to solve world problems.
