Curriculum Planning I

Curriculum development provides a framework for the design of curriculum with a special emphasis on the value of play. The role of the educator in facilitating and sustaining play will be examined. Students will become familiar with the process of curriculum planning, which promotes a child's development through play, routines, and group times. Students will be provided with a basic understanding of language acquisition and the role of the educator in supporting children's oral language. The effective planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate experiences for a variety of age groups in the areas of sand, water, blocks and art will be studied.
