Social Journalism: Stories by the People

One of the most powerful innovations of the World Wide Web is that it provides everyone the opportunity to tell their own stories. But that does not mean everyone can tell them well. In this course, students will learn how to become better storytellers including the ethical and social responsibilities that go along with it. Students will review the variety of sources where new stories are told today, from both the social and linear media worlds. The course will focus on producing stories from northwestern Ontario and how they relate to the province, the country and the world.
