Microbiology

This course concentrates on oral microbiology and introduces the student to the need for effective infection control to avoid disease transmission in the dental clinic. Specific aspects of the control of microorganisms within the oral cavity include the study of biofilm, calculus, stain and caries formation. Students will be introduced to the theory related to immunity and abnormal intraoral conditions as they study the various diseases that may affect the oral cavity.
