CY-611
Developing Community Wellness
Working within communities, large and small, is an essential aspect of becoming a successful CYC practitioner. This course introduces learners to the collective power of people to shift and shape cultural, economic, political and social aspects of the community by providing an opportunity for them to contribute directly to a development project. Classroom learning will present some community development models, making critical connections to the structural determinants of health. Learners will then gain first-hand experiences from community organizations and members, collaborating on local community development activities and evaluating how these activities contribute to community wellness outcomes.
