Placement Seminar

This course provides the learner a forum to discuss practice challenges and successes in the placement setting. The learner will complete practice self-assessments, to prepare for midterm and final placement evaluations, which will include the perspective of peers, supervisors and faculty on their performance. CYC Practice themes will form the basis for group reflections in the classroom and will include: therapeutic processes; developmentally responsive practices; supervision opportunities; relational challenges and reactivity; self-care strategies; addressing anti-Indigenous systemic racism and colonization; children's rights; anti-oppression and advocacy approaches; professionalism, and ethical practice from an Indigenous point of view. This course work allows students to take advantage of peer support to manage the challenging and often traumatic nature of CYC practice while refining their ability to bridge theory and practice. There is an expectation that client confidentiality will be rigorously protected.
