Relational Practice
Learners will critically examine theories of reciprocity in relationships and undertake critical self-examination of their practice. Indigenous worldviews will be applied to relational practice to highlight different ways of knowing, challenge dominant ways of practice and identify the impacts of colonization on cultural, community and private logic. Concepts of privilege, racism, developmental capacities and identity are examined in order to apply strategies of reflection, mindfulness and active listening. Through a series of in-class practical strategies. Application of theory to practice will provide learners with opportunities to develop their own strength-based approach to relational practices that align with the CYC Code of Ethics and the CYC competency of professionalism.
