Self, Strengths and Resilience in CYC Practice
The most influential tool in the therapeutic process is the self-in-relationship. Using both Indigenous and Eurocentric frameworks, learners will explore the concept of "self" in relationship to others and to the living world around them. Learners will begin to understand how we make meaningful connections to ourselves and to others by creating and grasping opportunities for relational engagement with both targeted young people and colleagues. By analyzing self-imposed barriers in relationship and giving and receiving structured strength based feedback, we will learn to find our resilience, first as practitioners and then, simply, as people. Topics covered will include triggering and reactivity, as these are central to responsive practice. Learners will develop a professional development plan which focuses on methods of ethical engagement, again drawing from Indigenous and Eurocentric approaches.
