Therapeutic Programming

This course introduces students to the therapeutic use of program planning in the care and treatment of children and youth. Students will gain an understanding of what constitutes a therapeutic activity and how to use activities to facilitate change. Students will have the opportunity to develop, facilitate and evaluate both individual and group therapeutic experiences in the classroom. Students will have opportunities to review file documents and extract necessary information needed for identifying goals and creating meaningful interventions. Students will engage in a parallel process of group process where they will be required to apply group theory to work effectively with their peers to accomplish tasks.
