Developmental Theory in Child & Youth Care Practice I

This course is the first in a two-part series on child development. In part I students will examine the scientific study of children and youth from a developmental perspective. Students will explore the major themes and theories associated with child development in order to prepare students to understand the physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth of infants, children and adolescents. In this part I, we will examine the impact of ecology on development, linking developmental theory to at-risk behaviour. Part I also significantly examines physical development from infancy to adolescence.
