Foundations in CYC in Northwestern Ontario

This course is an introduction to the field of CYC practice in Northwestern Ontario. The content includes an overview of the history of child and youth care; the theoretical and conceptual frameworks used in child and youth care; the roles and functions of child and youth care practitioners; the core characteristics of practice; the continuum of professional development; the contexts within which practice occurs. Relational, ethical and rights based practice is emphasized with a focus upon understanding the Indigenous context of practice in Northwestern Ontario.
