Contemporary Health Issues in Aboriginal Communities
This course will identify and discuss the historical events which have impacted Aboriginal Peoples and the health issues which currently challenge communities. Students will investigate specific social and health issues including the breakdown of the family, addictions, diabetes, suicide, and infectious diseases. Discussion will emphasize the promotion of prevention strategies within the communities, including a focus on nutrition and dental health.
