Note Taking Support for Students with Disabilities

Students who require note taking assistance due to a disability or medical condition must register with Student Accessibility Services and have a current Accommodation Plan (AP) in place.

Students are encouraged to discuss with their Accessibility Strategist all options of note taking support that may be available. Typically, note taking support can take the form of audio recording of lectures, or a peer note taker.

Peer Note Taker

As an accommodation, students may be eligible for a peer note taker when the instructor does not already provide course/lecture content.

• Complete a Note Takee Application Form* with the Accessibility Strategist and submit it to the Tutoring Office

Audio Recording of Lectures:

As an accommodation, students may be eligible to audio record lectures using software provided by SAS (Genio).

• The student must sign the Student Accessibility Services - Student Recording Agreement before recording any lecture
• A copy of the signed Recording Device Policy Agreement will be forwarded to instructors upon request

To ensure the continuation of Note Taking services, students must:

• renew the Accommodation Plan (AP) each semester
• complete and submit a new Note Takee Application Form/review the Student Accessibility Services - Student Recording Agreement.
• attend classes regularly
• check your college email regularly for messages from your Accessibility Strategist, the Tutoring Officer and/or the Peer Note Taker
