Ways to Get Credit for Previous Education and/or Experience

Recognized Prior Learning (RPL) is an overarching principle of providing credit(s) for significant and relevant previous learning and/or work/life experience and is comprised of any of the following components:

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)

A mechanism to offer credits for learning acquired through STUDY, WORK, VOLUNTEERING and OTHER LIFE EXPERIENCES that are NOT recognized through formal transfer credit mechanisms. 

Transfer Credits

A mechanism to offer credits for COURSES taken at other postsecondary institutions

Articulation/Transfer Agreements (University/College/Highschool)

Formal agreements between specific institutions that specify credit(s) for graduating from specific PROGRAMS

School College Work Initiative (SCWI) (Dual Credits)

High school activities and dual credit programs that streamline the transition to postsecondary learning for thousands of Ontario high school students

Accelerated Programs

If you already have a college diploma, or a university degree in a related area, you may want to consider one of our Accelerated programs:

An objective of an Accelerated program is to enable you to complete the program in less time, by providing you with credits for related courses you have taken previously.
