The RPT facilitates activities and forums through the Confederation College Campuses for Northwestern Ontario teachers.
Forums provide opportunities for high school and college instructors to exchange and share resources and information to further expand student’s essential learning skills. The connections built at the forums provides high school teachers with an increased comfort level in recommending college to their students as a viable career pathway.
Activities provide provide opportunities for high school and elementary students to experience college curriculum through a variety of exciting programs. It is the hope that these experience will assist students in considering college a a viable pathway.
Dual Credit Forum
Objectives of the forum:
- To provide overview of SCWI accomplishments
- To review dual credit (college delivered and SWAC) programs presently occurring in Northwestern Ontario
- To examine dual credit data and refine Smart Goals for RPT 11
- To discuss/share best practices in regards to delivery of college delivered dual credits and SWAC programs
- Liaison between college and high school personnel on an ongoing basis will be one of the goals of the forum

Trades and Technology Expo
A Confederation College Trades and Technology Expo will be held in the communities of Dryden, Kenora and Fort Frances to the West of Thunder Bay and the communities of Marathon, Manitouwadge, and Geraldton to the East of Thunder Bay. This road show will showcase careers in the trades and technology areas. The Expo will include exhibits, interactive displays and demonstrations. Dual credit opportunities in each community will also be highlighted. The objective is to provide exposure to traditional trades and non-traditional trades, show case the College’s trades and technology programs, provide hands-on demonstrations, and networking opportunities. It will provide employer outreach, build connections for students, parents, teachers, youth at risk, individuals seeking re-training, and the community as a whole.

Grade 7 & 8 Student Experience
The Regional Planning Team will provide opportunities for Northwestern Ontario grade 7-8 students to visit Confederation College facilities. Hands-on, interactive learning experiences will be developed for the students. Some out-of town students will have the opportunity of staying in the College Residence for an evening(teachers and parent chaperons will accompany these students). Experiences with the students will be developed over a two week period in April/May. College student ambassadors for various departments will be hired to assist with the interactive learning experiences.
