Northshore, Greenstone and Wawa Campus Graduates Recognized at 2017 Convocation

Confederation College Northshore, Greenstone & Wawa Campus Convocation 2017

MARATHON, ON, June 22, 2017 – 7 students from the Confederation College Northshore Campus – Marathon, 3 students form the Greenstone Campus – Geraldton and 2 students from the Wawa Campus crossed the stage today at the 2017 Convocation Ceremony, to signify and celebrate the completion of their academic programs. This year’s ceremony was particularly significant as Confederation College is celebrating its 50th Anniversary year.

Local graduates join the over 1500 students graduating from Confederation College this year from across northwestern Ontario.

Confederation College President Jim Madder, presided over the ceremonies. “This represents a significant crossroad for our students as they continue on in the pursuit of their dreams,” he said. “We are extremely proud of our students for all that they have accomplished. We wish them continued success as they move forward into the next phase of their individual journeys and remind them that Confederation will always be there to support them.”

Robyn Augustine, graduating from the Office Administration program, and Dario Verin, graduating from the Business – Accounting program were two of the College’s successful graduates. (See backgrounder). Verin was the recipient of the Academic Award of Excellence for the Marathon campus’ Business – Accounting program and the Campus Award of Excellence.

Another successful graduate was Darian Lacroix, who was the recipient of the Academic Award of Excellence for the Wawa campus’ Business – Accounting program and the Campus Award of Excellence.

The Governor General’s Award recipient was Seija McKay, from the Thunder Bay campus, who graduated from the two-year Tourism – Travel and Eco-Adventure program with a 4.0 GPA. This award is presented annually to the student that has achieved the highest academic standing in the final year of a diploma level postsecondary program earning an average of 80% or better.

Today’s graduation ceremony was attended by family and friends, as well as staff and faculty from Confederation College. Confederation’s convocation ceremonies wrap up today.
