You may have noticed some lovely student artwork around SUCCI in celebration of Diwali, or the ‘festival of lights', the biggest festival celebrated in India. This festival usually lasts five days with the main celebration taking place on the day of the new moon when the sky is at its darkest (November 4). Candles, clay lamps and oil lanterns are lit and placed throughout peoples’ homes, in the streets and temples, and floated on lakes and rivers. People dress up in their traditional attire, prepare special dishes, exchange sweets and celebrate with their family and friends.

One popular sweet that is prepared during Diwali is Kaju Katli, which is made with cashews. Visit this link for an easy recipe to try at home. For more details on the festival itself, click here

Wishing all our students and staff a very happy and prosperous Diwali.
