Paterson Library Commons at Confederation College provides service to all students including regional, distance and online learning students enrolled in our programs. Students may access the electronic library collections and request research assistance through email, phone, live chat and in person. Contact us for assistance.

We support the key elements of Information Literacy at Confederation College and offer personalized real-time library instruction to any student interested in learning more about research skills.

Program Guides are online web pages for each program and created by library staff to help students perform various tasks, such as using library resources or doing research. A great starting point for your research!

Library Liaison for Distance and Regional students

If you wish to speak to the Library Liaison for Distance and Regional students, please call Joe Donlon at (807) 475-6194. Leave your name and phone number and he will call back within 24 hours. If you require immediate assistance, please call the library’s main line at (807) 475-6219.

Off-Campus Access

In order to access and save content from the library’s online databases and the library catalogue from home/off-campus, it is necessary to enter the 14-digit student number as well as your PIN. Your PIN is the last 4 digits of your student number.

E-Books

We have several eBook collections that cover a vast array of topics including medicine, engineering, public policy. To find out more about these valuable resources go to the E-book Collections webpage.

Of special note is the EBook Collect Consortium a shared collection of eBooks by all Ontario colleges and is accessible using your 14 digit student number and 4 digit PIN.

Books

If you are looking for books, go to the Library website and select Library Catalogue This will allow you to search the Library catalogue. You may search by keyword, author, title or subject. Books may be borrowed for 3 weeks and you may renew them twice. You can renew material as long as it is before the due date. To borrow or renew books, contact us by phone (807) 475-6219, by email. You can also renew through the My Account feature available on the Library catalogue.

If you are a student at a College campus, the books will be sent to your campus office with your name on the package. The books can be returned through the office at your regional campus. If you are a Distance Education / online learning student, the books will be mailed directly to your home address with prepaid return mailing instructions.

Books that aren’t available in our College Library can be requested through Interlibrary Loan.

Streaming Video

We have a great collection of online videos on a wide variety of subjects including environmental science, nursing, sociology, and engineering to name a few. The content is copyright cleared for in-class use. For a complete listing of our collections, go to our Streaming Video page
