Orientation includes information that will introduce students to Confederation College, Thunder Bay and to key individuals who will help them throughout the year. Orientation is mandatory and is a great opportunity to meet other international students and to participate in a variety of fun activities. Please visit the orientation tab for specific dates.
Insurance and Health Care
Health insurance is included with the international student tuition fees, and is provided by Guard Me Canada. Health insurance coverage will start with the beginning of the program (September 1, January 1, or May 1), so if you plan to arrive in Canada before the start of class you may wish to purchase your own international coverage or visit the Guard.me website to purchase ”Early Arrivals” insurance. Additionally, pre-existing health conditions are not covered for medical care by your health insurance and students need to plan in advance for these expenses.
Professional health care workers, nurses, dietitians etc. are available during the school year at the College’s Health Centre for non-emergency appointments. For information on Health Centre services available please visit the Health Centre webpage. Students needing emergency care must visit the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences hospital.
